Calw, the former tranquil Hermann Hesse town in the northern Black Forest, has established itself as a major district town, leading the district to become one of the best regions nationwide, marked by promising job market prospects and a high quality of life. In May 2016, Calw even secured second place as the climber in the Future Atlas study conducted by the economic research institute Prognos, which rated “the best prospects in terms of job market and quality of life for the next three years.”
Extensive efforts have been undertaken to achieve this, which are now bearing fruit. These include, on one hand, the comprehensive assurance of mobility starting in 2023 through the new Hermann Hesse Railway, which quickly and reliably connects Calw with Stuttgart and the surrounding area. Furthermore, the expansion of digitalization, the school center, the restructuring of the district hospitals, the settlement of medium-sized industry, and many other measures contribute to this success.
